Antje Baumann is a litigator and international arbitration practitioner with over 20 years of experience. She advises clients in complex and large-volume commercial disputes. Her expertise is particularly sought after when strategic planning, assertiveness, and negotiation skills are required. Antje Baumann is especially experienced in energy, corporate, and IP disputes. Moreover, she is an expert in the defence and pharmaceutical industries.
Antje regularly serves as arbitrator in international arbitration proceedings. Having arbitrated well over 90 cases, she also acts as a seasoned party representative who knows what arbitral tribunals are looking for. Antje, furthermore, is trained and active as a business mediator.
In 2019, Antje founded BAUMANN Resolving Disputes, a boutique law firm specialising in dispute resolution. Previously, she worked for Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Dispute Resolution practice group for many years. She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the UC Berkeley School of Law and is admitted to the bar in Germany and New York. She advises her clients in German, English, and French.
Antje is an honorary professor at Osnabrück University, teaching negotiation, conflict management, and international arbitration. She is a highly sought-after speaker and regularly publishes on international arbitration (e.g., co-editor of the “Practitioner’s Handbook on International Commercial Arbitration”, published by Oxford University Press, and author of the Commentary on the ICC Rules). Moreover, Antje is a board member of the Hamburg Arbitration Circle e. V.

- Represented a globally operating company in arbitration proceedings following the delivery of faulty parts.
- Defended a former executive against damage claims based on alleged misconduct concerning various financial market transactions.
- Assisting a client in mediation proceedings following a company acquisition agreement.
- Presiding arbitrator in a dispute administered by the DIS concerning the early termination of a complex infrastructure project (amount in dispute over 550 million EUR).
- Presiding arbitrator in a dispute administered by the ICC concerning claims for price adjustment under a long-term supply agreement (amount in dispute over 75 million EUR).
